Wie kann eine Erinnerungskultur entstehen, die Betroffene von rassistischer Gewalt nicht nur als Opfer betrachtet, sondern sie auch als politische Akteur*innen einbezieht? Darum geht es im zweiten Teil unserer Kooperation mit THF Radio.
In ihrem Feature beschreibt Thao Ho von THF Radio ihr Unbehagen bei der Einweihung des Denkzeichens für Nguyễn Văn Tú. Sie zieht Parallelen zum Gedenken an das Pogrom in Rostock-Lichtenhagen, bei dem vietnamesische Stimmen ebenfalls erst spät einbezogen wurden. Denn das Vietnames*innen in beiden Prozessen nicht oder erst spät und eher symbolisch einbezogen wurden, ist kein Zufall, sondern Ausdruck eines politischen Ausschlusses. Gemeinsam mit anderen Personen aus der vietnamesischen Community spricht Thao über die Kritik am Denkzeichen, aber auch über das Potential von politischen Zusammenschlüssen, um die deutsche Gedenkkultur zu verändern.

How can a culture of remembrance be created that not only regards those affected by racist violence as victims, but also includes them as political actors? This is the subject of the second part of our cooperation with THF Radio.
In her feature, THF Radio's Thao Ho describes her discomfort at the dedication of the memorial to Nguyễn Văn Tú. She draws parallels with the commemoration of the pogrom in Rostock-Lichtenhagen, where Vietnamese voices were also only included at a late stage. The fact that Vietnamese people were not included in both processes, or were only included late and rather symbolically, is no coincidence, but an expression of political exclusion. Together with other people from the Vietnamese community, Thao talks about the criticism of the memorial sign, but also about the potential of political alliances to change the German culture of remembrance.
